Ghanaian actress and newly elected Member of Parliament for Tema Central, Ebi Bright, has opened up about the challenges she faced when venturing into politics. Despite being a career diplomat, Ebi was dismissed and ridiculed for her political ambitions, with some people telling her that politics wasn’t suitable for someone from a “Cantata” background .

Ebi recalled one man saying, “Does this girl think politics is the Cantata she acts?” She believes that this kind of marginalization is what discouraged many creatives from pursuing a career in politics. However, Ebi’s win is expected to encourage many others to follow in her footsteps.

Ebi’s journey to becoming a Member of Parliament wasn’t easy. She won the Tema Central seat at her third attempt on the ticket of NDC since 2016. She first attempted to get into Parliament in 2012, but it wasn’t until now that she finally achieved her goal .

As a Development Communicator and Career Diplomat, Ebi is committed to serving the people of Tema Central. She intends to move beyond partisanship and develop a strategy that serves the interest of her constituents. Ebi’s victory is particularly significant, given that Tema Central was considered a safe seat for the ruling NPP .

Ebi’s win is a testament to her determination and perseverance. She believes that she has broken all the odds against her in this election, and she’s elated to be part of the next Parliament .

In her own words, Ebi said, “I don’t see any barriers in the pursuit of my interests. That is why I have broken all the odds against me in this election.” Ebi’s story is an inspiration to many, and her commitment to serving her constituents is truly admirable .
