Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, snapped back at a reporter’s question during a post-match press conference following the Ghana Premier League matchweek 12 game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Albert Amoah’s 95th-minute strike handed the Phobians their first defeat in five games. Ouattara, who witnessed a defensive blunder involving goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and defender Kelvin Osei Asibey, rebutted when a reporter questioned how his team played on the day, asserting that the Phobians were poor.

The Hearts of Oak coach, visibly displeased with the question, furiously urged the reporter to take his job seriously.

“You asked me if I gave the gift to Kotoko, I said no; they deserved to win this match. Let us be serious. Don’t take a question from the lotto ground in Kejetia and bring it here, please,” he said.

Despite his frustration, Ouattara acknowledged the performance of Asante Kotoko, admitting they were the better team while expressing determination to bounce back.

“I lost the match; I lost three points. That’s the most important thing. In football, the most important thing is to score. Kotoko scored, they deserved their three points; I lost my three points. I have another four matches to go until the end of the first round. Who told you I will lose all four matches? Kotoko won, bravo to Kotoko, finish. I’ll go and think about my problems to prepare my team for other matches,” he added.

The loss leaves Ouattara’s team in seventh place, with 19 points from 13 games. They will host Berekum Chelsea in their next league encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday, December 20, 2024.
