Miracles Denis Aboagye of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), viewing outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as arrogant is a misunderstanding.

Some Ghanaians have criticized the president and some of his appointees of being arrogant during his second time in office.

Some accuse him of insulting traditional authorities, while others claim he failed to listen to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

Speaking on Joy News’ Newsfile on Saturday, December 14, Mr. Aboagye disagreed with some who consider the President arrogant.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo is a modest guy, and if his reaction to criticism offends people, it does not imply that he is arrogant. He explained that, based on his experience, the president is nice and should not be labeled as such.

“Akufo-Addo’s persona and demeanor may appear arrogant if you observe him from a distance. But everybody who has worked with him, including the CSOs and you, Samson, will disagree and say he is not arrogant,” he told Joy News’ Samson Lardy Anyenini during the broadcast.

“I’ve worked with him as a presidential assistant, and I don’t think he’s arrogant. He is, nonetheless, a pretty firm individual. He will tell it like it is, and if he disagrees with you, he will voice it clearly. Such interactions can occasionally distort who he truly is.

He said, “These are individual perspectives, so Akufo-Addo is not arrogant.”

When asked if his alleged arrogance contributed to the NPP’s electoral setback, Mr Aboagye expressed incredulity. He stated that the party would focus on rethinking its strategy to retake power in 2028.

“We need to work with our employees to assist them comprehend the conditions that led to their fears and feelings. Second, we need to learn from this experience,” he stated.
