Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate, issued a heartfelt statement on his official Twitter page regarding the results of the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, which saw the National Democratic Congress (NDC) emerge victorious. In his remarks, Dr. Opoku Prempeh thanked Ghanaians for their involvement in the electoral process and acknowledged the people’s verdict with humility and respect. He underlined the NPP’s resolve to learning from the outcome and regaining the electorate’s trust.

Reflecting on the campaign, Dr. Opoku Prempeh thanked Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Presidential candidate, for picking him as running mate and for his leadership throughout the campaign. He also thanked the party faithful, his family, and supporters for their everlasting belief and commitment to the cause. Looking ahead, Dr. Opoku Prempeh underlined the significance of introspection inside the NPP to determine the causes of the electoral loss. He expressed optimism that the party will emerge stronger, reenergized, and better prepared to serve the nation in the future.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh reaffirmed his belief in the NPP’s core beliefs and ideals, urging party members to be resilient and unified during this period of introspection. He ended his statement with an invocation of blessings for Ghana and a call for unity and commitment to recover. The statement strikes a tone of humility, thankfulness, and optimism, indicating the NPP’s determination to rebuild and refocus in the aftermath of the 2024 election.

However, netizens have had a variety of reactions to his post. Many blamed him for the NPP’s collapse, citing his numerous contentious statements and assertions. Please see below for some responses I received from concerned folks on the post.
