Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah has expressed disappointment with the Akufo-Addo administration and explained why he chose not to vote in the 2024 general elections.

In an interview with DJ Slim, OB disclosed that he had voted for Akufo-Addo four consecutive times, but now regrets his decision due to his personal experiences and the government’s handling of economic issues.

He recounted losing money to Menzgold and later being affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange program, which he described as unfair.

“I voted for Akufo-Addo 4 times… I regret all that now. First, I lost my money to Menzgold. Then I started investing my money in a legitimate bank, only to receive an email one day informing me that I had been affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange program (haircut). I was so confused. It wasn’t fair; it affected me massively,” he shared.

He continued, “So for someone who ruined my dreams of investing, I don’t think he had my best interests at heart. I felt like Akufo-Addo was very negligent about the well-being of Ghanaians. It may not have been him directly, but that underneath him.”

Amponsah also discussed the difficulty of speaking against the government, noting that critics often faced threats.

“You couldn’t even talk about it because the moment you say something, someone will call you and warn you to shut up. So I was disappointed in him,” he said.

OB Amponsah further explained that despite initially planning to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, he decided not to vote at all due to these experiences.
