The Electoral Commission (EC) has named persons accredited by the commission to have access to the Constituency Collation Centres.

According to the EC, the collation centres are restricted areas, urging supporters of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stay off these premises.

The electoral body added that each candidate has two agents represented at the various constituency collation centres.

The EC Deputy Chairman in charge of operations, Samuel Tettey, disclosed this in its last press briefing for the day amid concerns that party supporters are thronging collation centres across the country.

“The commission wishes to inform the leadership of all political parties and candidates that the collation centres are restricted areas. Only persons who are accredited by the Electoral Commission can have access to the constituency collation centres, and each candidate has two agents at each of the collation centres. There is no need for the collation centres to be overcrowded.”

Counting and results declaration are underway following the closure of polls at 5 pm across most of the polling centres in the country.

The 2024 elections took place across 276 constituencies in the country, with the process being largely peaceful. Pockets of violence have, however, been recorded, with one person confirmed dead in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.

The EC has meanwhile urged Ghanaians and political parties to exercise patience as they execute their mandate of delivering a successful election.
