Prince Harry has revealed his late mother ‘inspires me every single day’ as he appears in a video for the 2024 Diana Awards ceremony.
The Diana Award is a charity which recognises young people who work to improve the lives of others in the world.
It was established in 1999 by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown in memory of Diana, with the aim of empowering young people to make a difference.
The Duke of Sussex appeared alongside two legacy award recipients — Christina Williams and Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang — at the ceremony today.
It was broadcast on YouTube and Prince Harry was invited as a special guest to announce this year’s recipients.
Speaking at the virtual awards ceremony, Prince Harry said his mother’s legacy and the efforts of young people to drive change ‘fill me with hope’.
Addressing Christina and Chiara, Prince Harry said their pursuit of ‘equality, justice and access to education for young people’ was ‘remarkable’.
He said in his speech: ‘It’s great to be here today celebrating the incredible achievements of young people who exemplify the spirit of the Diana Award.

‘Sometimes the world’s problems can seem to big for one person to tackle, but your efforts are a powerful reminder that we all have the potential to contribute to a fairer world.
‘No one is ever a conduit for change alone and the award recipients we’re honouring today are testament to that.
‘My mother’s belief in the power of young people to drive positive change continues to inspire me every single day.
‘No matter the challenges we face, whether it’s climate change, mental health or systemic injustices, her legacy and the efforts of young people to inspire further action in the world fill me with hope.’
It comes after Prince Harry attended a party in New York City last night to celebrate the opening of an art exhibition to raise money for Sentebale, the African charity he co-founded.
The Duke of Sussex posed for photographs with artists at the Ki Smith Gallery as he viewed works that form part of ‘Friend: A Survey of Op Art and Minimalism’.
The 40-year-old royal’s solo engagement was his second of yesterday after speaking at The New York Times Dealbook Summit earlier on – while his wife Meghan Markle was 2,500 miles away in Los Angeles at a gala event with their friend Tyler Perry.
The exhibition features a collection of works by pioneers of minimalism and optical art alongside contemporary artists and will open to the public on December 14.

Harry greeted guests and spoke at the event in honour of Sentabale, the charity he helped launch in 2006 after a trip to the tiny mountain kingdom of Lesotho.
Sentebale aims to strengthen the social and emotional wellbeing of those living with or affected by HIV, and help to provide access to health and social services.
Prince Harry also last night revealed that he and wife Meghan Markle have no plans to return to the United Kingdom with Archie and Lilibet.
The Duke of Sussex opened up about his desire to stay in the United States at the annual DealBook Summit live in New York on Wednesday.
It was there that the prince said security was a factor for his and Meghan’s decision to stay put for the time being – as well as their children’s future.
The Sussexes have called Montecito, California home since the summer of 2020 – after they fled the UK and the Royal Family.
The Times reported Prince Harry told the summit on Wednesday: ‘I very much enjoy living here and bringing up my kids here.’
The Duke added that there are also activities he can do with young Archie, five, and three-year-old Lilibet that he ‘undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK’.
Harry said he was focused on ‘being the best husband and the best dad that I can be’, too.
And as the duke was on stage, Meghan sent a message of support to guests at a charity’s carol concert in central London.
