Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana played a cameo role in Southampton’s humiliating 5-1 defeat to Chelsea in the English Premier League on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Sulemana was introduced in the 62nd minute, replacing Ryan Fraser, but couldn’t change the course of the game as Southampton trailed 3-1 with a man down after Jack Stephen’s red card in the 39th minute.

The defeat leaves Southampton at the bottom of the Premier League table, while Chelsea jumps to second place.

Sulemana made a promising return to action last weekend with a three-minute cameo against Brighton, but unfortunately, it didn’t translate to a better outcome against Chelsea.

Chelsea dominated the game from start to finish, with goals from Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, and Jadon Sancho. Southampton’s only goal came from Joe Aribo.

The loss is a significant setback for Southampton, who are struggling to find their footing in the Premier League this season. For Sulemana, it’s a disappointing result, but he’ll be looking to bounce back and make a positive impact in his team’s upcoming games.
