Independent presidential candidate and leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, has revealed his plans to reform Ghana’s sports industry if elected President.

Bediako disclosed that he aims to integrate sports into the educational system, allowing students to participate in sports from a young age.

Speaking during an interview on GTV, the presidential candidate stated that educating Ghanaians about sports would encourage greater participation in the industry rather than limiting them to being mere spectators.

“What I would do for sports, which I think we are lacking, is to stop people from just watching and not being part of the industry by infusing sports into our educational system. This would involve partnering with specialists in the field. We Ghanaians often become footballers by vision, not by skills or training, and they need to be properly trained and coached. You need to go through a disciplined process to become a footballer. Even if you were born with talent, you still have to undergo proper training,” he said.

He also outlined plans to address the educational system’s lack of structured knowledge on sports development and its integration.

“So that process of educating yourself—learning about economics and other subjects—while also being trained on what to eat, how to behave, how to discipline yourself, how to avoid eating certain things, and how to protect your body, especially your legs, is missing from our schools,” he added.
