Ace sports journalist Saddick Adams has warned that Ghana head coach, Otto Addo’s decision to strip Mohammed Kudus of the captaincy, after giving it to him during the doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, could affect the player’s commitment to the Black Stars.

After granting Kudus the captain’s armband in the October international window, Addo reversed his decision for the November window, announcing that Jordan Ayew would take over as captain, replacing the West Ham forward.

Adams, during a session on his YouTube channel, revealed this move will impact Kudus’ dedication and willingness to give his all for the national team.

“Otto has lost it. Kudus will not be the same again because that’s how nature works. Although Kudus will try to give his all for the team, the decision to give him the captaincy and then take it back, as though he’s not capable, will affect not just Kudus but any other player in that situation,” Adams said.

The journalist also revealed that the decision has created tension among three key players—Kudus, Jordan Ayew, and Alexander Djiku—and questioned how Addo intends to address the rift.

“Why didn’t you hand the captaincy to Jordan in the first place when you took it from Kudus? Why did you only give it to Jordan after he complained to Kwasi Appiah? And why did you take it from Djiku? How will you bring these three players together?” he quizzed.

Otto Addo’s initial decision to name Kudus as captain drew criticism from fans, many of whom felt it was too early for the young player to assume such responsibility. Kudus went on to captain Ghana in the games against Sudan in Accra and Libya, where the Black Stars drew 0-0 and suffered a 2-0 defeat respectively.
