The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that all leagues will take a one-week break after the upcoming match day between November 30 and December 1.

According to the GFA, the decision is to allow all eligible players to participate in the forthcoming General Elections in Ghana.

As a result, there will be no matches for the major leagues, including the Ghana Premier League, the Access Bank Division One League, and the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, during the election period.

Ghana heads to the polls on December 7, 2024, to elect a new president and members of parliament to lead the country for the next four years.

The Ghana Football Association wishes to inform all members, stakeholders and the general public that all of its competitions will go on a planned break after this weekend’s matches to enable all participants in football to perform their civic duties in the national General Elections on December 7, 2024.

The GFA Calendar for the 2024/25 season indicates that the Ghana Premier League, the Access Bank Division One League, the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, and all other competitions will take a short one-week break after this weekend’s MTN FA Cup Round of 64 games, Match day 6 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League and all other matches, for the upcoming national General Election.

The Ghana Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, and the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League matches are scheduled to resume on the weekend of Friday, December 13, 2024.

The clubs and match officials are already fully aware of this one-week break per the league fixtures, and this notice only serves as a reminder.

The Association urges all participants in football and Ghanaians to perform their civic duties in a peaceful manner and wishes all Ghanaians a successful election.
