Former Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong has made a triumphant return to the club, taking on the roles of Deputy Welfare Officer and Youth Team Manager.
The Kumasi-based Ghana Premier League giants confirmed the appointment in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, November 15, 2024.
“We are pleased to announce that former captain Amos Frimpong has returned to the club to serve in the capacity of deputy welfare officer and team manager for our youth team,” the club stated.
This move underscores Kotoko’s efforts to harness the expertise of its former players in shaping the club’s future and developing young talent.
In addition to Frimpong’s appointment, Kotoko announced a significant restructuring of its Interim Management Committee (IMC).
According to a directive from His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Manhyia Palace, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum will step down from his IMC responsibilities to focus exclusively on his primary role as Head Coach.
“This decision has been made to allow Dr. Ogum to fully dedicate his efforts to his primary role as Head Coach, with a continued focus on leading the team to success on the pitch and advancing the club’s sporting objectives,” the club announced.
The restructuring is part of the club’s strategic efforts to optimize operations and align with the vision outlined by Manhyia Palace.
Asante Kotoko continues to strengthen its management and build a sustainable path forward, with Frimpong’s return seen as a significant boost to its welfare and youth development initiatives.
