A woman has died after being discovered with burns all over her body in a stairwell in an apartment block in Sydney‘s west.
Kristy Banister, 44, was found by paramedics in the unit complex on Vicliffe Avenue in Campsie just after 3pm on Monday.
She was rushed to Concord Hospital but died hours later at about 9.30pm.
A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told Daily Mail Australia he heard shrieking at about 2.30pm before she was discovered on fire.
He understands Ms Banister cut herself before covering herself in petrol.
The resident said ‘everyone’ in the building had been ‘complaining about her for months to public housing’ but no one had responded.
‘She had been living here more than five years. There have been complaints about her the entire time. But public housing have done nothing,’ he said.
The man claimed Ms Banister had been housing two illegal tenants in her unit who were not home when she reportedly set herself alight.

‘A couple of weeks ago, there were kids playing in the carpark. They picked some things up off the ground, went to their dad and said “What are these?”‘ he said.
‘They were a couple of syringes.’
