Gospel musician, Sonnie Badu Gospel musician, Sonnie Badu

According to The Rock Hill Church founder and singer-songwriter Sonnie Badu, in his line of work, he has observed “demonic possessions among the Whites are worse” compared to Blacks.

Whether he was being hyperbolic or not is not known, but he said this, disabusing his audience of the mentality that only Africans experience demonic possession.

He cited “a woman who came to me – she had married Satan – when she was confessing, they killed her son,” to buttress.

The advancement and development seen “externally abroad,” he admonished, was only a veneer that “can make one think there are no demonic activities there, but that’s not true.”

“The poverty and hardship may make it appear as though demons are more active in Africa, but witchcraft and the demonic world are everywhere,” he underlined.

He said he knew this as a matter of fact from “counselling sessions” with people from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds from around the world.

“People like my church because my teachings expose some of these things and give direction and relief to people,” he noted.

Sonnie Badu spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo, Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

He spoke on the due process for delivering people of evil spirits.

“Deliverance is not done overnight,” he noted, underlining, also, in America, unlike in Africa, “if you touch or lay hands on someone and they fall down and hurt themselves, they can sue you. [Therefore, there has to be a consent form; [you] sign a contract.”.

To even operate, “you have to insure your church. My church is insured—millions of dollars,” he revealed.

    Safety during deliverance

He noted precautions taken during sessions of deliverance since demons could enter those who assist the pastor at work.

“In my church, if you’re not prayerful, you’re not allowed to hold anybody during deliverance because demons fly in the air and look for empty vessels to go into. So while you assist with a cloth [for a woman being prayed for, for instance], if you’re not praying and you are easy prey, the demon can enter you,” Sonnie Badu cautioned.

Due to this, he explained, “I don’t commend children to be around areas of deliverances and if there are children there, their parents have to anoint them right there – making a cross sign on their foreheads.”.

    Relocating a demon

He said it was due process for the pastor or deliverance minister to cast out the demon and “command it to go somewhere else,” explaining, “If you don’t, it’ll find a place [of its choosing] to go.”

He warned if this was not done, the spirit could back into its original victim after wandering, and they may be worse off than before.

Although he said being a deliverance minister was a spiritual gift, he said one still needed mentorship to excel in that service.

Meanwhile, the US-based Ghanaian musician is in Ghana for his peace walk event scheduled for Saturday, November 23. With Danquah Circle as its meeting point, Independence Square is the destination.
