    Michael Blackson

Ghanaian-American comedian Michael Blackson is taking his personal fight against bullying into American schools, hoping to influence how young people treat one another following the death of 15-year-old Ghanaian student Javits Frimpong in New York.

The comedian has started visiting high schools to speak with students about the effects of bullying, drawing on his own experiences growing up as an African student in the United States. His outreach is particularly aimed at encouraging young people from immigrant communities to stand against harassment and seek help when they encounter such situations.

Javits died on Thursday, October 29, 2026, after being attacked while on his way to school in the Bronx. His death has raised serious concerns about student security and the treatment of young people within school environments.

Blackson’s involvement in the conversation began shortly after the incident, when he shared a personal account of being bullied during his teenage years.

In an Instagram post published two days after Javits’ death, the comedian recalled the difficulties he experienced while attending Broadway Junior High School in North Newark, New Jersey.

He disclosed that his problems extended beyond verbal harassment, recounting an incident in which a boy who was not enrolled at the school attacked him as he prepared to board a bus home.

Blackson believed his treatment was connected to his position as the only African student at the school, an experience that left him familiar with the kind of hostility some immigrant children encounter while growing up in unfamiliar environments.

The incident appears to have strengthened his determination to speak directly to students rather than limit his contribution to online commentary. He subsequently expressed his intention to visit schools and use his experiences to help young people understand the seriousness of bullying.

His first stop has been John Bartram High School in Philadelphia, where he previously studied. The visit marks the beginning of his planned engagement with students across different high schools.

Announcing the development on Instagram, Blackson acknowledged the support of the school’s principal, Brian Johnson, whom he thanked for helping him bring the initiative to life.

He also encouraged his followers to recommend other high schools that could benefit from the programme, suggesting that he intends to extend the outreach beyond his former institution.

The announcement has drawn encouraging reactions from fans, with many praising the comedian for responding to Javits’ death with an initiative focused on student awareness and safety.
