The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), Simon Madjie, has called for increased investment from Qatar into strategic sectors of Ghana’s economy to strengthen bilateral economic relations and promote sustainable growth.

According to him, Ghana was seeking to deepen investment cooperation with Qatar by creating opportunities for partnerships across sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, financial services, tourism and the creative arts.

In an interview with Doha News in Qatar, Mr Madjie said improved air connectivity between the two countries would facilitate business engagements, promote trade and boost investment flows.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the ninth edition of the World Investment Forum 2026, hosted by the State of Qatar in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) under the theme, “Investing in the Future.”

Mr Madjie said Ghana is keen on attracting Qatari investment into manufacturing, agro-processing, financial services, fintech, digital services, oil and gas, power generation, mining and tourism.

He also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in culture and the creative arts, adding that Ghana was interested in leveraging Qatar’s expertise to support the development of industries and strengthen business partnerships.

On the investment climate, Mr Madjie said Ghana was working to improve the business environment and create favourable conditions for capital inflows.

He pointed out thst the country offered incentives for investors seeking to operate in free zones, as well as incentives relating to factories, equipment and machinery.

Mr Madjie said Ghana’s participation in the forum was aimed at showcasing the country’s investment potential and encouraging Qatari businesses to explore commercially viable opportunities.

He called for stronger cooperation between the public and private sectors of both countries to establish sustainable partnerships that would serve their mutual interests.
