In a quadruple regional title event OPBF super bantam champ Toshiya Ishii (12-2-2, 8 KOs), 121.75, gave a sound boxing lesson to Ryuya Nihei (13-4-2, 4 KOs), 121.25, and scored a unanimous decision (100-90 twice, 97-93) over ten hot frames in Tokyo on Thursday. Having served as a sparring partner of “Monster” Naoya Inoue, Ishii steadily improved his power and skills, but he followed a jet-coaster career, winning the national belt, losing it to Jun Ikegawa and then acquiring the OPBF title. Ishii, a good jabber, is hoped to regain his previous power punching.
Promoter: Ohashi Promotions.
