Jack Grealish has been praised by fans after donating £10,000 to the fundraising campaign of an Everton supporter suffering aggressive kidney cancer.
DJ Anton Powers – an Evertonian – is believed to have shared the efforts launched by the family of Leon, 35, on Wednesday night, with Grealish quickly responding to the call-out with a generous donation.
‘What an absolute gent Jack Grealish is,’ Powers wrote. ‘I put up an Insta story up late last night about a heartbreaking situation for a big Everton fan.
‘And Jack goes on to donate to his fund. What a top guy (blue heart, hands raised emojis).’
Fans flooded the comments of Powers’ missive with their own praise for the former England star, with many recalling that he has made similar impressive gestures in the past.
‘Believe he makes a lot of charity donations like this, gent of the game,’ one user commented. ‘More players should follow (hands raised emoji).’

‘In fairness Grealish has shown over the years that he’s class,’ another wrote. ‘Fair play (applause emoji).’
A third wrote: ‘Absolute top lad is Jack. You can tell he comes from good parents and wants to help where he can.
‘Never advertises what he does either it’s always others that tell his story of just what a good lad he is’.
Leon’s campaign details how the father of three boys aged two, three and 10 is battling ‘one of the most aggressive forms of kidney cancer’, having been given just one to three years to live.
The campaign has been launched by his partner Crystal Duffey, whose statement for the page stresses that the funds will be used to provide ‘access to the best possible care’.
Grealish has a long history of supporting fundraising campaigns, previously donating £5,000 to the family of a woman killed in a car accident in 2021, and another £5,000 to cover funeral costs for an Aston Villa fan in 2023.
Also that year, the winger contributed £5,000 to a Birmingham City-supporting family’s appeal for money to support their son Dylan Lamb’s trip to America for treatment via a clinical trial to battle his blood cell cancer.
In 2025, Grealish contributed £1,000 to cover funeral fees in a different fundraising campaign, and gifted £1,400 to a man requiring specialist cancer treatment.
Grealish returned to Everton for a second loan season at the start of this term, after his first run-out was hampered by significant injury.
