Ghanaian musician Nero X has opened up about his decision to compose a song for former President John Mahama, despite previously endorsing President Nana Akufo-Addo.

In a viral video on social media, Nero X shared that the song was an apology to Mahama, who he said he had “betrayed.’

“The fact that after doing “Four More” for Nana Akufo-Addo, this is what they can do. I felt like I betrayed JM. So I said let me do something for him as an apology. It’s like when you do something wrong and you try to correct it. So I’m trying to right my wrong,” he explained.

Nero X emphasized that his decision was made independently, without any external influence or pressure.

“I did it without any influence; I told my manager that this is what I want to do as an apology to Mahama, and I composed the song; nobody told me to do it. I wasn’t under any control,” he stated.

He even travelled to Rwanda to find dancers for the music video, as he did not want any dancer to be implicated in any political controversy.

Nero X released a song titled “Mahama for 2024” on his official YouTube channel on June 19, 2024.

In the song, he praised John Mahama as the saviour of Ghana during economic hardships and urged people to vote for him in the upcoming election.

He joins a host of other musicians, including gospel artiste Nacee, who has composed a song for the NDC flagbearer.
