A Texas man was taken into custody after investigators discovered human remains, weapons, a gasmask, and a missing child at two of his properties.
Michael Dean Davis Jr., 27, was arrested on November 12 outside of his Laredo home after police found the mother of his child’s remains at his old property in Buffalo.
Mahogany Washington, 27, along with her and Davis’ eight-year-old son were reported missing on June 19 by family members who told police they had not seen them since July 2022.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division searched the Buffalo property on October 22 and made the haunting discovery – uncovering what were later identified as Washington’s remains. Investigators linked Davis to her death.
But there was still no sign of her missing child.
The Laredo Police Department of Webb County then received a tip that Davis had been living in Laredo – about 130 miles away from Buffalo – with his son for two years.
Authorities staked out in front of the home, waiting for Davis to go check his mail, before executing the arrest for Washington’s murder.
Police swarmed the property and arrested Davis on murder charges. Davis was pictured handcuffed in the back of the cop car, looking wild-eyed and disheveled.

The child was found safe inside the home, along with multiple rifles, a gasmask and an armored suit, KGNS reported.
The LPD told the Loredo Morning Times: ‘The investigation revealed that Davis was likely armed and was a possible threat to his son.
‘Due to the suspect’s violent tendencies and potential threat to law enforcement and the surrounding neighborhood, a plan of approach was created and executed on November 12, 2024.’
According to a statement released by the Leon County Police Department, this investigation was a collaborative effort across nine different agencies.
These included the the Leon County District Attorney’s Office, the US Marshals’ Lone Star Fugitive Task Force-Waco, the US Postal Inspection Service and Texas Department of Public Safety.
Davis is being held at Webb County Jail on a $3million bond and waiting to be extradited back to Leon County. The child is in the care of Child Protective Services.
This arrest comes after a Chicago woman was found ‘pulverized’ and missing a foot in their stairwell of her boyfriend’s condo.
Caitlin Walch Tracey, 36, was found on October 27, with police detaining her tax attorney partner, Adam Beckerink, 46, who reported her missing days before.

Police tracked down where Davis was living in Laredo and waited outside before arresting him on murder charges
They released him after 48 hours without filing any charges.
But Welch’s family has accused Beckerink of wreaking a ‘campaign of abuse and terror’ against their daughter during her final months, including allegedly throwing a glass pickle jar at her head and pouring vodka on her wounds.
In another incident, human remains were found inside the freezer of a Michigan townhouse on November 7, sparking a homicide investigation.
Deputies responded to 911 calls from an unidentified person who ‘indicated there was blood on the floor’ of one of the homes on the 1500 block of Wintercrest Street.
Working with the property manager, officers were able get inside the residence and spotted dried blood on the floor.
While searching the house, police found a body inside a freezer alongside the possible human remains of a second person.
