Controversial sports journalist Patrick Osei Agyemang, well known as Countryman Songo, has called for action following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

He criticised the defensive tactics used by head coach Otto Addo in most games, which hindered the team’s ability to attack freely and score goals.

The host of the Fire for Fire show on Adom TV suggested that Otto Addo, a known trainer scout, should be replaced before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers begin.

In a video shared on X, Countryman Songo also insisted that the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, should be dismissed for his poor oversight of football activities.

“If you agree with me, this coach must be sacked sooner rather than later. It will be too late for us if we don’t act. In the World Cup qualifiers, we only have six points, and they will resume soon. If Addo is still in his position by then, it will not bode well for us.

“The opposing teams are familiar with his tactics, specifically 5:3:2, and it will not benefit us. How can we allow a scout to coach Ghana? The football officials are not helping us, so as we remove the coach, the GFA president [Kurt Okraku] must also go,” he said in Twi.

This statement comes after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Following a 1-1 draw with Angola, Ghana currently sit at the bottom of Group F with only 3 points from 5 matches, consisting of two losses and three draws.

Ghana’s upcoming match against Niger on November 18, 2025, will be merely a formality, as their chances of qualification have already been eliminated.

Angola, who have already secured qualification, lead the group with 13 points, while Sudan and Niger follow with 7 and 4 points, respectively.
