A woman and 10-year-old girl have been found dead inside a car that was submerged in a dam on a rural Queensland property.
Emergency services were called to Springvale Road in Tinana South, south of Maryborough, just before 5.30pm on Thursday following reports of a blue Subaru Tribeca driving into the water.
A 36-year-old local woman and the little girl were found dead inside the vehicle despite a local farmer’s desperate attempts to save them.
Farmer Joel Hinschen, 45, said he did not hear a sound but discovered the vehicle while he was working on his property.
‘I got in the water and pulled them both out of the car,’ he told ABC News.
He said he rang Triple-Zero before jumping into the neck-high water and pulling the pair from the vehicle.
It is understood Mr Hinschen said his father performed CPR on the little girl first until firefighters arrived and took over.
Tragically the woman and child died at the scene.
