Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has said that he is not perturbed by the criticisms from the public following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He noted that he welcomes the intense scrutiny from a section of Ghanaians who are aggrieved by the team’s performance in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, which is not wrong.

Otto Addo indicated that he was trained by top coaches like former Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp, who taught him how to stand firm in times of crisis.

“It’s not my nature, people can judge me and surely most of the people would judge me by the results, which were not good. But I have friends, I have mentors. I was trained under Klopp, I was assisted by Edin Terzic, who was Dortmund head coach.

“And for me, this is relevant. If they say this or that, and they’re also critical of some things, I understand but this has much more value. I can assure you that I also question some games. To be honest, like I said, especially the home games, we played well, but we didn’t score and this was the missing point,” he told the media ahead of the Black Stars’ game against Niger.

Despite Ghana not qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, the team will play their last game against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024.
