The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will tomorrow hold its national executive elections, with more than 7,000 delegates expected to elect leaders who will take charge of rebuilding the party’s structures and preparing it for the 2028 general elections.
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi will host the elections, with the contests for the National Chairmanship, First Vice-Chairmanship, National Women’s Organiser and National Youth Organiser positions expected to attract particular attention.
The General Secretary position will also be contested, with the incumbent, Justin Frimpong Kodua, seeking another term against his challengers.
Beyond the personalities contesting the various positions, the elections will determine the composition of the team that will lead the NPP’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures, reconnect with its supporters and reorganise its machinery after the 2024 general election.
The National Chairmanship race has four contenders, former General Secretary, John Boadu; former Second Vice-Chairman, Sammy Crabbe; former National Chairman, Paul Afoko; and former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.

The contest has largely been framed as a two-way race between Mr Boadu and Mr Agyarko, with Mr Afoko and Mr Crabbe also seeking the position.
Mr Boadu is number one on the ballot, followed by Mr Crabbe, Mr Afoko and Mr Agyarko at numbers two, three and four, respectively. Read More
