Ricky Hatton reportedly amassed a £30million fortune before his death last year, though uncertainty remains over how the boxing legend’s estate will be distributed.

Hatton, who died aged 46 last September, won multiple world titles before using his fight earnings to build a business empire worth more than £20million, with at least another £10m tied up in property investments, according to The Sun.

Trustees were appointed to manage Hatton’s estate after he took his own life in September last year.

However, sources close to the family claim communication with the trustees has since broken down, with one describing the situation as a ‘complete mess’, according to an earlier report in The Sun.

It was thought Hatton had intended for his fortune to pass to his three children, Campbell, 25, and daughters Millie, 14, and Fearne, 12. However, a year after his death, the family are still waiting to learn how and when the estate will be distributed.

Campbell told The Sun on Wednesday: ‘My family is still completely in the dark. We’ve had no involvement in my dad’s finances for over 15 years.’

During his successful boxing career, Hatton used his fight earnings to finance a string of businesses, many of them linked to property investments in his hometown of Hyde, as well as in Leicestershire, London and Kent.

One source said Hatton was ‘determined to ensure that he had a financial legacy from his incredible career’.

‘Everyone who knew and loved Ricky would give anything to have him back. But during his life he’s done a great job of providing for the people he loved the most, his children,’ the source added.

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that Hatton’s house had been sold for £1.5m this year after £350,000 was knocked off the original asking price.

The house, where Hatton was found in September last year, was put up for sale shortly before his death for £1.85million but was later taken off the market following his tragic death.

The mansion then went back on offer for £1.75million, then £1.65million before it was sold for £1.5million.

It was described by the estate agent as being a ‘landmark modern residence offering luxury, space and unrivalled lifestyle features’.

It said that the five-bedroom six-bathroom property, which was built in 2010, had been ‘impeccably designed’.

Hatton put his own stamp on the property, decorating it with personal touches including a traditional telephone box in the garden and an array of Manchester City memorabilia. Among its more unusual features are seats salvaged from the club’s former Maine Road stadium.

It has extensive landscaped grounds with greenbelt views, plus a leisure suite with a heated indoor pool and jacuzzi.

A private gym and cinema room complement a games room and bar area, which is separated from the pool by a striking glass wall.

The principal bedroom suite features a walk-in dressing room, a luxurious en suite bathroom, a crushed-velvet chaise longue and dark patterned wallpaper.

Elsewhere, the property offers multiple reception rooms and expansive open-plan living areas centred around a high-specification, dark-panelled kitchen.

Situated in the sought-after area of Gee Cross in Greater Manchester, the estate is equipped with advanced security features, including CCTV.

The estate agents said: ‘This is a rare opportunity to acquire a truly outstanding home in one of the North West’s most prestigious and sought-after residential locations.’
