All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) today announced an an all-new, live ‘Queen of the Ring’ episode headlined by the television network’s first-ever championship boxing bout on Friday, Oct. 2, beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
The championship main event, which mark the first title fight to air on AWSN, will see undefeated Melanie Timko (5-0) square off with hard-hitting, former world championship challenger Naomy “Kusa” Cardenas (10-2, 2 KO’s) in an eight-round affair with the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) North American Boxing Association (NABA) super flyweight (115 pounds) strap at stake.
Friday’s live ‘Queen of the Ring’ episode will air from the ‘Boxfest XXI’ event in El Paso, Texas.
“Since we entered the business of women’s boxing content, AWSN has been platforming some of the top rising stars and future champions in the women’s field of the sport and providing these great female fighters with a means to showcase their skills in front of millions of fans worldwide, and on Friday, the work we’ve been doing will culminate with our first-ever championship bout between two seasoned competitors who will surely put on an incredible show for our viewers and showcase the sport at an elite level,” said George Chung, CEO of AWSN.
The 41-year-old Timko hails from Omaha, Nebraska and will compete in her first-ever eight-round fight after fighting six rounds in each of her last two bouts.
Timko’s opponent, Cardenas is a 27-year-old, forward pressure-style fighter out of Chihuahua, Chih., Mexico.
Cardenas, ranked number 14 in the world by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), stepped onto the big stage for the first time in her career on August 15, 2025 in a World Boxing Organization (WBO) world super flyweight title bout, pushing defending champion Mizuki Hiruta, the 2025 Ring Magazine “Fighter of the Year” award winner, the 10-round distance of their fight.
In a ‘Queen of the Ring’ featured four-round women’s super welterweight (154 pounds) contest from El Paso, undefeated rising star Ariana Carrasco (3-0, 1 KO) will battle Angelica “Chingona” Flores (0-0).
The 23-year-old Carrasco of Las Cruces, N.M. will step into the ring for the third time in three consecutive months, just three weeks after defeating Jozette Cotton by way of unanimous decision in Hidalgo, Texas on September 11.
A decorated, former amateur champion who competed in over 80 amateur fights, Carrasco is quickly establishing herself on the professional circuit as a strong counterpuncher with good ring smarts.
Since February, when it debuted the sport live on the air in association with Manny Pacquiao Promotions, AWSN has been airing women’s professional boxing action on a regular basis in the 60-plus countries that the network has carriage in, reaching over 1 billion consumer devices worldwide.
