    Ras Kuuku

Ghanaian reggae musician Ras Kuuku has condemned Sarkodie over a social media post he shared shortly after Stonebwoy’s successful concert at the OVO Arena Wembley in London.

According to Ras Kuuku, the video Sarkodie shared, which showed a physically challenged man walking with crutches, was inappropriate and should have been condemned by people within Ghana’s music industry.

The controversy surrounding this post in queation became one of the issues behind the recent back-and-forth between Stonebwoy and Sarkodie.

Stonebwoy, while responding to Sarkodie on social media, recalled how he had personally called the rapper after his Royal Albert Hall show to congratulate him. He said they spoke for more than 10 minutes.

Stonebwoy in the said post also questioned Sarkodie about why he shared that particular video following his own OVO Arena Wembley performance.

Stonebwoy appeared to take the timing of the post personally because of his known physical disability, which resulted from a childhood accident.

Speaking about the development during an interview on TV3’s Late Afternoon Show with Anita, Ras Kuuku made it clear that he must condemned Sarkodie for what he did.

He said the music industry should not have remained silent over the post, insisting that colleagues and people close to Sarkodie should have confronted him and told him that the action was wrong.

The reggae musician stressed that Sarkodie is not an ordinary artiste but a huge Ghanaian music brand whose actions carry significance beyond the immediate controversy.

Ras Kuuku noted that Sarkodie represents Ghana on the international stage, particularly in the rap genre, and therefore should be more conscious of the things he does publicly.

For him, engaging in what he regarded as petty exchanges was unnecessary, particularly given the timing of Sarkodie’s post shortly after Stonebwoy had successfully staged his major international concert.

Ras Kuuku argued that established artistes such as Sarkodie should leave certain kinds of fan rivalry to their supporters instead of participating in them themselves.

He maintained that it was high time the biggest brands in Ghana’s music industry stopped engaging in such behaviour and allowed their fans to handle the rivalry while the artistes themselves concentrated on building their brands and representing Ghana.

He further questioned why the industry and relevant groups did not openly condemn the video.
