When Mario “The Machine Gun” Boboc fights for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Europe) Middleweight title on home soil, October 3 in Valcea, Romania, he will be up against very risky opposition.
Boboc (7-2, 5 KOs), who won UBO Inter-Continental honours last July, has been matched with undefeated Bulgarian southpaw Nikolay Dishkov (6-0, 2 KOs), a talented 25-year-old up-and-comer with plenty of ambition.
Boboc (34) will have an edge in experience, having gone the ten-round distance twice, and will have the crowd behind him, but Dishkov brings youth and size.
The Bulgarian will likely enter the fight in the shape of his life, coming down from Light Heavyweight. He is coming off impressive wins over undefeated Konstantinos Petropoulos from Greece and French veteran Gregory Trenel.
Boboc took home the UBO Inter-Continental Middleweight title on July 18 in Islamabad, Pakistan, with a wide unanimous decision over local co-challenger Hasan Ghani. Only twelve days later, in the same city, he stopped journeyman Yameen Khan in two rounds.
The fifty-fifty fight will be one of the featured bouts of Cobzaru Fight Championship at Sala Sanitar in Valcea, promoted by Gabriel Cobzaru.
