A travel and tour agent has been remanded into lawful custody for allegedly collecting GH¢107, 000 from a civil servant and his relatives under the pretext of securing them recruitment into Ghana’s security services.

Clement Osei-Wusu is alleged to have promised to enlist the complainant and his relatives into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Ghana Police Service (GPS), Ghana

Immigration Service (GIS), and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). He has been charged with defrauding by false pretences and pleaded not guilty before an Accra Circuit E Court.

The court, presided over by Mr Joseph Y. Kunsong, remanded Osei-Wusu to reappear on September 22, 2026.

The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Raymond Ackom, said the accused was a resident of Weija SCC, Accra, while the complainant was a civil servant residing in the Bono Region.

The prosecution said in October 2025, the complainant joined a WhatsApp group, “Limited Job Opportunities”, administered by the accused, where advertisements for recruitment into the security services were posted.

The complainant’s cousin, Gbenyare Yahaya, who was also on the platform, contacted Osei-Wusu for further information and subsequently informed the complainant.

The prosecution said Osei-Wusu demanded GH¢15, 000 for recruitment into the GRA and GH¢19, 000 for the GAF and other security services.

On October 17, 2025, the complainant and Yahaya reportedly visited the accused’s office at Weija SCC and paid for two slots in the GAF.

During their discussions, Osei-Wusu represented that he also had slots available for recruitment into the GIS and GPS, prosecution said.

It said the complainant subsequently transferred GH¢35, 000 into the accused’s Fidelity Bank account on December 24, 2025.

In 2026, the complainant allegedly made additional payments totalling GH¢20, 000 through the accused’s Mobile Money wallet and two rural bank accounts for two slots in the GPS.

The prosecution said the accused later demanded an additional GH¢5, 000 to facilitate the transfer of the complainant’s son, who was allegedly in the second batch of GAF recruits, to the first batch.

However, after collecting the various sums, the accused allegedly failed to fulfil his promises and blocked the complainant’s means of communication.

The complainant reported the matter to the Police on August 8, 2026, leading to the accused’s arrest.

Osei-Wusu admitted the offence in his caution statement, prosecution said.
