Former Asante Kotoko coach Isaac Boateng (Opeele) has questioned an X user for naming an all-time eleven African players without some greats in African football.

An X user, BernardNyamah7, shared a photo that captures what he views to be the best eleven players in African football history.

The list includes Yassine Bounou as the goalkeeper, Hakimi, Kolo Toure, Rigobert Song, and Kwadwo Asamoah as the defenders, Sadio Mane, Michael Essien, Yaya Toure, and Salah as the midfielders, and Samuel Eto’o and Ballon d’Or winner George Weah as the forwards.

The former coach, however, highlighted several names he believes deserve a place on the team.

In a quoted tweet, Opeele named legends such as three-time CAF Player of the Year winner Abedi Ayew, one-time Africa Cup of Nations and CAF Player of the Year winner Rabah Madjer, Nigeria’s Baba Yaro, and Egypt’s Hany Ramzy, who once held an Egyptian record for playing in five consecutive Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002 as some greats who should have made the team.

While a case can be made for some players in the lineup, coach Opeele believes that an all-time African eleven without the names he listed is not only incomplete but also disrespectful to the names.
