Renowned Ghanaian highlife musician Kofi Nti disclosed that American movie producer and actor Tyler Perry has paid him a substantial amount for copyright infringement.

Speaking in an interview on Onua TV, Kofi Nti noted that his lawyers in the United Kingdom reached out to the movie producer and negotiated with him after he used his popular song “Odo Nwom” without his permission.

“I did that song with Ofori Amponsah. We have a lawyer in the UK; he contacted the team, so negotiations and everything went well. So, we have solved the issue; a little money was involved,” he said.

Kofi Nti further called on creatives to improve their craft in the country.

“Highlife never dies, you know, up to now, people still play my songs. As a musician, I would advise the young ones to put their best in their performances and craft.

“I used to like Camidoh when he started music, and I didn’t even know he was Ghanaian until he said Twi in one of his songs. But it’s all good. I would still advise them to up their craft because it seems they are throwing highlife away,” he added.
