Next Friday, DragonFire Promotions returns to the Metro City Night Club for yet another night of electrifying fights and exciting prospects.

In the main event, Irish fan favourite Owen “Bomber” Corrigan faces Paulo Ratumaihoro in a cruiserweight matchup.

On the undercard, WA State Heavyweight Champion Michael Bazley returns to face his second international opponent, Sheng Xu.

When asked about his upcoming bout, Bazley said he felt ready to put on yet another shutout performance.

    “I’m feeling dangerous,” Bazley said.

“I don’t need to get ready, as everyone else takes a bit of time to get themselves in gear.

    “I’m always ready to go.”

In his last outing, Bazley defeated Ryan Williams to win the WA State Heavyweight Title and maintain his 100% knockout rate.

Bazley says that the title win meant much more to him than just a standard victory, as it was a way of proving his peers right while also paying tribute to a late friend.

“[Winning the state title] was a big one for me,” Bazley revealed. “It was always in the back of people’s minds that I could do it for a decade.

“People said that I could become champion, so there was a lot of pressure on me to get it done.

“I also won the belt for my friend who passed away.

“When he was alive, we would joke about me becoming state champion, and I made a promise after he passed that I would win the title.

“When it all happened, it was probably one of the best moments of my life, as corny as that sounds.

“It was an absolute privilege to fight in front of everyone there and get the job done.”

Since Bazley’s debut last November, he has undertaken a wide variety of promotional work for DragonFire, including event trailers and video interviews.

The state champion said that he has enjoyed the experience so far, and his background in real estate has helped him bring fans to the Metro City Night Club.

“I always wanted to get into the promotional side of things, and I heavily back myself,” Bazley revealed.

“It’s not just about the fighting. You can be the greatest fighter, but if you don’t put people in seats, you don’t really get anywhere.

“If you can get people there to see the story unfold, then it’s something that people will want to watch.

“[My experience in the real estate industry really helps with that].”

Although Bazley is skilled on the promotional side, he has also established himself as a solid boxer, getting better every time he fights.

In his short time as a professional, Bazley has claimed the 2025 Alan Pond Cup as well as the WA State Heavyweight Championship.

Bazley credits his activity since making his debut for his progression.

“When I made my debut, I wasn’t going to mess around. I was going to stay as active as I could,” Bazley said.

“There’s no point in me having a fight, then waiting six months and having another one.

“If I’m doing something, I’m all in, and I want to make an impact.”

Standing in his way this time is his second international opponent, Sheng Xu, who looks to pose a unique test for the Aussie.

Bazley said that despite having limited knowledge of Xu, he knows that his opponent presents one particular challenge.

“I do know he’s a southpaw. It’ll be my first time fighting someone like that in a proper fight,” Bazley said.

“It’s going to be an interesting fight. He’s nine years younger than me as well, and he looks like he’s solidly built.

“It looks like he’s coming in in great shape, but I’m going to test him.”
