There is great anticipation surrounding the debut of Colombian prospect Carlos Utria (14-0, 11 KOs), winner of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia. He will face American Israel Mercado (13-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-round super lightweight bout this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the undercard of the WBA welterweight world championship fight between Lopez and Romero.
The 22-year-old Utria trained in Mexico for this fight, which is expected to mark a new beginning in his rising career and establish him as a symbol for future generations, particularly in Colombia and throughout Latin America.
