It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

    Burnley go for keeper Amos

Burnley have signed free agent goalkeeper Ben Amos.

The 36-year-old had taken part in the PFA training camp for free agents this summer after leaving Port Vale at the end of last season. He has signed a one-year deal with Burnley.

Amos has over 360 appearances with a host of EFL clubs after beginning his career at Manchester United.

Coventry aim to break transfer record AGAIN

Coventry are attempting to break their transfer record for the second time this week after offering nearly £26million for Ghana star Caleb Yirenkyi.

The midfielder, who plays for Danish club Nordsjaelland, represented his country at this summer’s World Cup as they drew 0-0 with England and exited at the first knockout stage.

Back in the top flight for the first time in 25 years, the Sky Blues have already signed goalkeeper Carl Rushworth for £22.5m as well as defender Aurele Amenda and winger Loum Tchaouna. They have also turned on-loan midfielder Frank Onyeka’s move from Brentford into a permanent switch.

Arsenal set to come back for Konsa

Aston Villa are braced for a fresh bid from Arsenal for England defender Ezri Konsa amid attempts to tie him to a new contract.

Daily Mail Sport reported last month that Konsa was the Gunners’ top target for central defence though their initial proposal was well below Villa’s £60million valuation of the 28-year-old.

Konsa has remained on Arsenal’s radar since. He has two years remaining on his current deal at Villa Park and the club would like him to sign a new one.

Having already seen key men Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans depart this summer, and with Lucas Digne poised to join Paris Saint-Germain, Villa boss Unai Emery would have an even bigger rebuilding job were Konsa to depart.

Having recouped more than £140million for Rogers, who joined Chelsea, and Tielemans, who signed for Manchester United, Villa are not under financial pressure to sell Konsa and are unlikely to do so without a high-level replacement lined up.

But along with Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Junior, Konsa is a key target for Arsenal – especially with William Saliba facing a lengthy injury absence – and they are unlikely to give up hope.

    £14m Vitek set for Boro

Manchester United have agreed a deal worth £14million with Middlesbrough for goalkeeper Radek Vitek.

The fee is inclusive of bonuses for the highly-rated 22-year-old and there is also a 35pc sell-on clause plus matching rights and a buy back option for the Czech.

Tottenham defender Ashley Phillips, 21, is also in talks over a move to Boro.

Kim Hellberg has brought in seven signings so far this summer, including Will Lankshear from Spurs in a deal worth up to £20m.

Meanwhile, two Boro players are due to have medicals ahead of moves away. Delano Burgzorg is heading to Preston in a £2m deal and Kaly Sene is joining Young Boys in Switzerland.

Bruno set for £75m Arsenal move

Arsenal are set to complete their protracted £75million move for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes.

Full agreement is now almost done, with the clubs agreeing a compromise to end the saga.

Guimaraes is waiting for permission to leave Newcastle’s training base in La Manga, in Spain, to finalise the formalities of his move to Emirates Stadium.

    Swansea’s Wilson heads to Gent

Swansea City forward Kyrell Wilson has joined KAA Gent for an undisclosed fee, subject to the relevant clearance.

The 21-year-old former Chelsea academy graduate impressed on loan at Falkirk last season and links up with the top-flight Belgian side who secured European qualification last term.

Swansea, meanwhile, are close to agreeing a deal worth £5.2m for Valencia attacking midfielder Andre Almeida.

Talks are focusing on an initial fee of £3m, plus £2.2m in add-ons as well as a sell-on clause.

Almeida, 26, was left out of Valencia’s training yesterday and has still to agree personal terms with the Welsh club.

    Altay’s off to Spain

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has been given permission to travel to Spain and complete his move to Celta Vigo.

As Daily Mail Sport reported on Saturday, the Turkey international is joining on an initial loan with option to buy around £3.5million.

Vigo will cover Bayindir salary in full and there are various performance-related bonuses.
