The Head Coach of the Black Satellites, Maxwell Konadu, has named Ghana’s squad for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, with the Black Satellites set to begin their quest for regional glory in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The team arrived in the Ivorian city on Friday and wasted little time getting down to business, holding their first training session on Saturday as preparations intensified for their Group B opener against Nigeria today.

Following the clash with Nigeria, the Black Satellites will continue their campaign against Burkina Faso before rounding off the group stage against Togo.

Konadu’s side will be targeting a place in the knockout stage as they seek to lift the WAFU B U-20 Championship trophy.

The tournament serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana is set to host.

The sub- regional tournament provides an important opportunity for the Black Satellites to build momentum, strengthen team cohesion, and test themselves against some of West Africa’s finest young talents ahead of the continental showpiece.

Below are the players, listed to represent Ghana at the Championship:

They are Shaibu Rafique Issah, Emmanuel K. Agyemang, Boniface Blay, Barhama Issah, Kofi Junior Kumah, Humaid Fuseini, Benjamin Tsivanyo, Samuel Ashawa and Osafo Antwi.

The rest are Kelvin Nkrumah, David Keke Anane, Richard S. Otuo, Edmond Amakye, Osei Solomon Tutu, Mohammed Zaidan, Asante E. Koranteng, Fatawu Ganiwu, Abdul Latif W. Zakiu, Daniel Alabi and Joseph Badu.

The team wrapped up their preparations yesterday with a final training session in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of their opening fixture against Nigeria.

Maxwell Konadu oversaw the final workout as the squad fine-tuned its tactics and sharpened its readiness for today’s eagerly anticipated Group B encounter at the Lycée Scientifique Stadium in Yamoussoukro.

The clash with Nigeria marks the beginning of Ghana’s quest for regional honours, with the Black Satellites set to face Burkina Faso and Togo in their remaining group matches.

Konadu’s side will be aiming to secure a place in the knockout stage and mount a strong challenge for the WAFU B U-20 Championship title. –Ghanafa.org
