Asante Kotoko stop-gap coach Mohammed Hamza Obeng has expressed his disappointment following Asante Kotoko shocking 2-1 home defeat to Swedru All Blacks in the final game of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium ended Kotoko’s campaign on a bitter note and sparked anger among sections of the supporters after the final whistle.

Reports after the game claimed some agitated fans waited for the players outside the stadium, forcing the Kotoko squad to reportedly abandon their official team bus and leave the venue in an ambulance for safety reasons.

The Porcupine Warriors had taken the lead just before half-time through an own goal from Clement Tutu and looked in control of the contest.

However, second-half goals from Rudolf Mensah and Williams Dankwah completed a dramatic comeback for Swedru All Blacks, securing their Ghana Premier League survival.

The result saw Kotoko finish the season in eighth position with 49 points — far below expectations for the Porcupine Warriors.

Speaking after the match, the enterprising gaffer admitted the season had been disappointing and described the second-half display as painful to watch.

“We have a poor season. It’s part of the game. The idea was to break their midfield and find their back line. It worked for us at half time but went off in the second. Our plan didn’t work but we will just go back and prepare for next season,” he said.

The visibly frustrated coach also revealed how emotional he felt watching his side collapse after the break.

“At certain point, I wanted to cry based on our second half performance. It was very very poor,” Obeng added.

Asante Kotoko will now shift attention to rebuilding ahead of the 2026/27 season after a difficult campaign that saw them finish outside the top four and end the season amid growing frustration from supporters.
