Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Arnyas Tanko says his side will approach their final Ghana Premier League game against Hearts of Oak with confidence despite already securing the league title.

The newly crowned champions travel to the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday for their final league fixture of the 2025/26 campaign after sealing the title last weekend with a commanding 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions in Tarkwa.

Reflecting on their title-winning journey, Tanko admitted he strongly believed Medeama were on course for the championship after crucial victories over Bibiani GoldStars and Basake Holy Stars.

“I think the day we beat Bibiani Gold Stars and definitely they were behind us, and then I think the game against Basake Holy Stars — after that game I was 90 to 95 percent sure that we were going to win the league,” Tanko told Medi TV.

“And then God being so good and we finished it with Heart of Lions here with one game before the season ended, I think it is a very good achievement,” he added.

Despite already being champions, the ex- Black Stars assistant insists his side will still take Sunday’s clash seriously against Hearts of Oak, whom he described as a difficult opponent.

“Even when we played them here, we didn’t find it easy to beat them. It was a tactical game. Now we have won the league, so we are going there with no pressure. We are going to play our normal game with the hope that we will get our three points,” he stated.

After the Hearts encounter, Medeama will return to Tarkwa for their official coronation game against regional rivals Basake Holy Stars on Wednesday, May 28, where the Ghana Premier League trophy and medals will officially be presented to the club.
