Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has cautioned football supporters against paying money to individuals or organizations claiming they can arrange travel packages for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking amid growing excitement over Ghana’s qualification for the global tournament, the minister stressed that neither the Ministry of Sports and Recreation nor the World Cup oversight committee had authorized any person or group to collect money on behalf of supporters.
“Please don’t pay money to any individual or corporate body that tells you they are representing the ministry or the oversight committee,” Adams warned.
He also dismissed claims by some individuals that they could use personal connections within government or the ministry to secure travel opportunities for fans planning to support the Black Stars at the tournament.
The minister further criticized ongoing requests for so-called “slots” for supporters, insisting that no such allocation arrangement currently exists.
According to Adams, the ministry intends to work through the National Supporters Union in line with recommendations from the Justice Senyo Dzamefe Commission report to ensure fairness and national representation.
Ghana qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after topping their qualifying group and will face England, Croatia and Panama in Group L.
