Hearts of Oak have confirmed that their team bus was involved in a minor road accident on Saturday while travelling to Samraboi for their Ghana Premier League match-day 33 fixture against FC Samartex.
The Phobians were on their way to honour Sunday’s crucial league encounter at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex when the incident occurred.
According to an official statement released by the club on Facebook, the team bus was hit by a tricycle while crossing on the road.
“On our way to Samraboi to honour our Matchday 33 fixture against Samartex, our team bus was involved in a minor incident after being hit by a tricycle while crossing,” the statement read.
The club further confirmed that a few roadside victims affected by the incident were immediately rushed to the hospital at Wassa Simpa for treatment and have since been discharged.
“A few roadside victims affected by the incident were taken to the hospital at Wassa Simpa, where they received treatment and have been discharged,” the statement added.
Hearts of Oak also assured supporters and the football fraternity that all players and officials on board the bus escaped unharmed. “We would like to assure the general public and the football fraternity that all our players and officials are safe. We appreciate the concern and support shown to the team. Thank you,” the club concluded.
Despite the unfortunate incident, Hearts of Oak remain focused on their important away fixture against Samartex as they continue their push for a strong finish to the Ghana Premier League season with only two matches remaining.
