LaLiga’s women’s empowerment initiative, “La Ligue d’Égalité Ghana,” has officially launched in Accra, aiming to promote equality and youth development through football.

The project, spearheaded by FUNDACIÓN LALIGA and LALIGA in partnership with NGO Petrichor, IREVA Sports, and Sports Creates Memories, will engage more than 150 girls and women from Accra and nearby communities.

Activities began with training workshops for 30 coaches led by a FUNDACIÓN LALIGA instructor using the “Values to Win” socio-sports methodology, which combines football with education, teamwork, and personal development.

The six-week competition has also kicked off with about 100 players in the U-13 and U-16 categories representing five clubs. Participants received team kits and support for weekly training sessions.

A special “Mini Stars” session introduced nearly 50 girls under age 12 to football through inclusive activities focused on fun and teamwork. Former Real Sociedad player Aintzane Encinas led the opening clinic.

Officials say the initiative goes beyond football by creating safe spaces for girls while offering opportunities for leadership, education, and community engagement.

Ghana now joins Cameroon, Kenya, Morocco, and South Africa in the growing La Ligue d’Égalité network across Africa.
