The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) has stated that it will continue its nationwide health screening exercise for professional boxers on May 27 and 28, 2026, as part of efforts to enhance athlete safety and welfare in the sport.

The exercise, which forms Part II of the screening programme first held in November 2025, is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the National Sports Authority, and a newly secured sponsor.

Under the leadership of chairman Samir Captan, the GBIMC says all active licensed boxers are expected to participate in the mandatory medical screening to be included in a newly developed database that will later be handed over to the incoming Ghana Boxing Authority Executive Board.

According to GBIMC coordinator Gideon Oyiadzo, popularly known as “Jingles,” registration for the exercise will begin on May 25 at the James Town Police Station from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily.

Boxers will assemble at the police station at 8:00am on both screening days before being transported by bus to the Lapaz Community Hospital, where all medical tests will be conducted free of charge through sponsorship support.

The GBIMC says the initiative is aimed at promoting professionalism, safety, and longevity in Ghanaian boxing.
