Kelvin Kwarteng Yeboah, the nephew of legendary Ghanaian striker, Tony Yeboah, struck twice to inspire Minnesota United as the Loons rallied from a looming 2-0 defeat to snatch a dramatic 3-2 against Columbus Crew in the Major League Soccer on Sunday.

Yeboah, who was born in Ghana but has featured for Italy’s U21 side, shouldered the task as he halved the deficit around the hour mark before pulling parity with a precised strike around the 66th minute.

20-year-old Taha Habroune registered the opener on the 31st minute after he worked a give-and-go in tight space with Max Arfsten at the top right corner of the box for his second career goal in 33 matches.

French international Hugo Picard scored his first career goal in his 19th MLS match after having scored four goals in two U.S. Open Cup matches this season, including two vs. USL One club One Knoxville on Wednesday.

Yeboah, a former Genoa and Augsburg attacker, started the Minnesota comeback when he slid between two defenders and right-footed a flick by Markanich.

He made it 2-2 when he had an open header from a corner kick by Joaquin Pereyra.

Yeboah has scored 7 goals in 11 games for Minnesota in this season’s MLS competition.

This marks his third season in the MLS having arrived at the Allianz Field in the 2024 season from Genoa.

He has had spells with Austrian sides Tirol and Sturm Graz before securing a move to Genoa where he spent two seasons before joining Augsburg and later moved on loan to French side Montpellier. He netted 6 times and provided two assists for Standard Liege in the Belgian top-flight league in the 2023/24 season.
