Oregon State pitcher Tyler Bellerose has been released from hospital two weeks after he suffered a ‘traumatic brain injury’ in a car crash.
The freshman, 19, has been transferred from the hospital to an inpatient rehabilitation facility in Eugene, his family announced this week.
They revealed on the GiveSendGo that was launched following the crash on April 13, and has so far raised almost $100,000, that he has been left with multiple serious injuries.
‘We’ve been taking things one moment at a time while leaning on faith, hope, and the incredible support around us,’ they wrote.
‘Tyler suffered a traumatic brain injury, and the road has been incredibly difficult. But through it all, he continues to show us what strength really looks like.
‘Before we could even make it from Southern California, Tyler was surrounded by his Beaver family, the coaching staff and team, who stayed with him through the night. That kind of love is something we will never forget.’

Bellerose also suffered a neck injury and had swelling and bleeding near his spine.
He also had limited movement in his left arm and shoulder, as well as no movement in his left leg following the crash.
‘While this is a huge milestone, the journey ahead will be challenging,’ his family explained.
‘Tyler continues to face limited movement on his left side, no movement in his left leg, and rehab will be an intense process focused on regaining strength and independence.’
Details about the crash remain unknown but OSU confirmed their decision to cancel a game against the University of Oregon the following day was related to the incident.
Benton County District Attorney’s office told Oregon Live they are ‘unable to release records at this time due to the status of the case.’
Oregon State coach Mitch Canham revealed he had exchanged messages with Bellerose on Tuesday.
‘There’s been some progress,’ Canham said. ‘Getting to hear his voice, he’s a competitor too. He wants to be out with the guys and practicing.
‘In time my friend, but he’s a tough cookie and he’s got a great family too. They’ve been right there with him.’
