The Ghana U17 boys nations team are set to make their long-awaited return to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in nine years, with the Confederation of African Football confirming the match schedule for the 2026 edition in Morocco.

Ghana last featured in the competition in 2017 in Gabon, where they finished as runners-up, and will be aiming to make another strong impression this time around.

Drawn in Group D alongside Algeria, Senegal and South Africa, the Black Starlets will open their campaign against Algeria on May 14 at 19:00 GMT. They will then face Senegal on May 17 at 16:00 GMT before concluding the group stage against South Africa on May 20 at 19:00 GMT.

The tournament is scheduled to run from May 13 to June 2. With Africa expected to have ten representatives at the next FIFA U-17 World Cup, all eight quarter-finalists, along with the two best third-placed teams from the group phase will secure qualification to for the global showpiece.

Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and his squad have intensified preparations ahead of the competition, working to ensure they are in top shape for the challenge.

As part of their build-up, the team recorded a 4-2 victory over True Democracy in a friendly match at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday.

With momentum building, the Black Starlets will be hopeful of making a strong return on the continental stage and securing a place at the next FIFA U-17 World Cup.
