The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has directed that a minute of silence be observed during the upcoming MTN FA Cup semi-finals and the Women’s Premier League final at the Swedru Stadium in honour of the late Dominic Frimpong.

The decision follows the tragic death of the Berekum Chelsea footballer, who lost his life after being shot during an armed robbery attack last Sunday night. The incident has sent shockwaves through Ghana’s football community, prompting widespread grief and calls for justice.

In a statement, the GFA instructed all participating clubs to pay tribute to the deceased player as part of efforts to honour his memory. In addition to the minute of silence, players will wear black armbands throughout the matches as a mark of respect.

The Association emphasised the importance of solidarity within the football fraternity during this difficult period, urging clubs, officials, and fans to unite in mourning the fallen player.

Dominic Frimpong’s passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from across the country, with many describing him as a promising talent gone too soon.

The commemorative gestures are expected to provide a moment of reflection as Ghana’s football community continues to come to terms with the loss.
