The Editorial Team of The Ghanaian Times on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Education, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, in Accra, to wish him well following his recent recovery from a motor accident.

The three-member delegation was led by the Acting Editor of The Ghanaian Times, Mr David Adadevoh. He was accompanied by the News Editor, Mr Norman Cooper, and the Night Editor, Mr Gordon Wellu.

The visit, beyond expressing goodwill, also provided an opportunity for both parties to explore avenues for deeper collaboration aimed at advancing education in the country.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr Adadevoh commended the Minister for his commitment and hard work in championing the progress of education across Ghana. He noted that under Mr Iddrisu’s leadership, the sector had seen renewed focus and strategic direction, which deserved recognition and support.

Mr Adadevoh reaffirmed the newspaper’s readiness to support the Ministry of Education by offering a credible platform to communicate its policies, programmes, and interventions to the public.

“The Ghanaian Times has always positioned itself as a medium to inform, educate, and entertain the public, and as a state-owned media institution, we remain committed to partnering with public sector institutions such as the Ministry of Education to advance national development,” he said.

He also used the occasion to wish the Minister a speedy and full recovery, expressing hope that he would soon return to full duties to continue serving the nation.

In response, Mr Iddrisu expressed heartfelt appreciation to the delegation for the visit, describing it as thoughtful and deeply encouraging.

“I am truly touched by your presence here today. You could easily have sent a message, but your decision to come in person to pray with and for me means a great deal,” he said.

The Minister further thanked The Ghanaian Times for its consistent coverage of the Ministry’s activities, noting that such support plays a vital role in keeping the public informed about developments in the education sector.

He emphasised that he did not take the newspaper’s efforts for granted and called for a more structured and strengthened partnership between the Ministry and the media house.

According to Mr Iddrisu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tamale South in the Northern Region, enhanced collaboration between the Ministry of Education and The Ghanaian Times would significantly contribute to improving public understanding of educational policies and ultimately benefit the Ghanaian people.

The visit ended on a cordial note, with both parties expressing optimism about future cooperation in promoting national development through education and effective communication.
