The woke mayor of Los Angeles was blasted online after a beautiful $588million bridge that had just opened four years ago was overrun by criminals who stole its lights, leaving locals to travel in darkness.
The Sixth Street Bridge, which connects the Arts District in downtown LA to Boyle Heights, was reconstructed in 2022 at a cost of more than half a billion dollars to taxpayers.
However, in just a few short years, during Mayor Karen Bass‘ time in office, the city has seen the bridge slowly blend into the darkness of night as criminals have stolen its lights for their copper wiring, continued to vandalize it with graffiti, and hold illegal car meetups.
Ironically, the bridge was once called the Ribbon of Light, but locals have complained on online forums about how tired they are of being left in the dark while crossing over the viaduct.
Spencer Pratt, a mayoral candidate running against Bass for the November election, uploaded a video on Sunday of himself on the bridge bashing her for leaving citizens of LA without any light and allowing thieves to ravage the bridge.
‘All the lights have been allowed to be stolen from our taxpayer money because Mayor Basura and Nithya Raman and her DSA city council let criminals run the streets,’ said Pratt.
Pratt refers to Bass as Mayor Basura, a play on her and the Spanish word for trash.
‘Mayor Basura is planning to take two hundred more million dollars of our tax money to get solar-powered lights. Oh, because the criminals won’t steal those,’ he added.

Within four years the bridge has gone completely dark, has been vandalized, and used as meeting spots for illegal car meet ups
Karen Bass who became mayor in 2022, the same year of the viaduct’s reconstruction, has been blasted online and by opposing candidates who hope to defeat her in the November election
Pratt’s blasting of the current mayor struck a chord with many who are exhausted of letting criminals take advantage of their once beautiful bridge.
One user wrote: ‘One of my favorite places to shoot… but soon as that sun drops… It’s time to bounce. Used to be able to see the whole bridge. Was beautiful… for about six months.’
Another asked: ‘Karen Bass has a solution to put up solar lights. Hmmmmmmm, does she think that the criminals running around LA won’t steal solar panels to sell? How about getting the criminals off the streets and hiring more enforcement?’
A third wrote: ‘We lock up the lights instead of the criminals like the whole state is one big Walmart! Insanity. Vote for Spencer.’
According to a poll by the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs conducted between March 15 and March 29, Bass leads the voting at 25 percent while Pratt is 14 points behind.
However, 40 percent of voters remain undecided.

‘It is unusual for 40% of likely voters to be unsure of their choice just two months before an LA mayoralty election,’ said Zev Yaroslavsky, director of the Los Angeles Initiative at UCLA Luskin.
‘Although Mayor Bass faces the most challenging reelection of an incumbent mayor in decades, it is highly likely that this election will be decided in a November runoff. A lot can change between now and then, so it’s a wide-open race.’
The city hired engineers from Tetra Tech to help restore the lights, according to NBC4.
LA officials are attempting to fix the bridge before the 2028 Olympics by implementing a more than $5million plan.
The operation will include hardening equipment to prevent future thefts and installing security cameras, according to the outlet.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Karen Bass’s office for comment.
