A man who got comfortable with his partner apologizing after every disagreement gets alarmed when she goes silent this time.
During their courtship, anytime they had an issue, he would go silent.
No calls, text or explanation – completely disappearance.
He’d vanish and tell himself, “She’ll fix it.”
Which she always does. No matter who was wrong, she’d call and apologize.
“I got used to it
I started expecting it”, he added.
As usual, another issue ensued between them and he goes silent again.
He waited for her call but it never came through.
His confusion went on for days.
Then he realized, “this is exactly what I’ve been doing to her”
He confessed to feeling the silent p@in and the overthinking. He was inside a silence he had created.
Laying down his pride and dreading the thought of loosing her, he picked his phone and called her to apologize.
Calmly she replied, “I got tired of always being the one to fix us”
The line stayed with him. He now knows that love is not about who apologizes first but not letting ego win.
Though as married couples now, they still disagree sometimes, but they don’t go hours without talking.
“Sometimes, the lesson you ignore in courtship
will test you in marriage.
I am just grateful
I learned mine early enough
before silence turned into something permanent”
The story was shared on X by @ObaDeleke
“The first time you feel the p@in you caused someone else… that’s the moment real change begins” an X-user reacts.
