Asante Kotoko suffered a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to FC Samartex after a dramatic end to their league clash.
Samartex took control of the game in the second half, with Christian Agyenim Boateng opening the scoring in the 55th minute to give the visitors a deserved lead. The pressure continued as Emmanuel Mamah doubled Samartex’s advantage in the 83rd minute, leaving the home side with a mountain to climb.
Kotoko responded late in the match when Albert Amoah pulled one back in stoppage time to spark hopes of a comeback. However, the Porcupine Warriors were left heartbroken moments later when Samba O’niel missed a crucial penalty in the 90+1 minute that could have salvaged a point.
The defeat leaves Kotoko frustrated as they continue to struggle for consistency in the league. They will now shift focus to their next fixture against Medeama SC at the TnA Stadium, where they will hope to bounce back.
