Black Stars coach Otto Addo has announced that Jordan Ayew will lead the team in their games against Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, November 7, 2024, to announce the squad, Otto Addo said that he has decided to give the role to Jordan Ayew at the expense of Mohammed Kudus.

Otto Addo disclosed that he has held conversations with both Jordan Ayew and Mohammed Kudus and that the players are satisfied with the decision.

Otto Addo stated that while Kudus has good leadership skills, he believes that the timing is not right for him to lead the team now.

The squad announced is without Thomas Partey, whom Otto Addo admitted to leaving out of the matches for reasons he would not love to make public.

Ghana are on the brink of not qualifying for the 2025 AFCON after amassing just two points from four games.

The Black Stars have not won any of their four games in the qualifiers, losing two and drawing two.

They will need two wins from the two games against Angola and Niger and hope Sudan lose their respective games.

Ghana will face Angola on November 15 in Luanda before hosting Niger on November 18 to close the qualifying series.
